About Us

Forever Hounds Trust is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of unwanted, abused or abandoned greyhounds and lurchers.

Forever Hounds Trust (formerly Greyhound Rescue West of England) is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and homing of sighthounds. Sighthounds include a vast range of breeds and cross-breeds including greyhounds, salukis, whippets and lurchers. They come in a variety of colours, shapes, sizes and temperaments, so there is a hound to suit every type of home!

For over 20 years we have been a lifeline for dogs in need – taking them in from dog pounds (where many are under threat of destruction), from owners who are unable to keep them, responsible greyhound trainers, or from other rescue organisations. Some come to us from Ireland, where most racing greyhounds are bred and where sighthounds have a tough time. Everything from puppies to elderly dogs, elegant greyhounds, shaggy or smooth lurchers and sleek dinky whippets, come into our care.

Forever Hounds Trust is committed to improving the welfare of all working sighthounds, from cradle to grave, and gives an independent voice to racing greyhounds as a welfare member of the UK Greyhound Forum. We are members of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes, a professional body made up of animal welfare organisations working towards a common goal of excellence in helping and homing rescue animals.
