COVID-19 Coronavirus

Mypetzilla is closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 extremely seriously. Whilst, we continue to follow advice from the UK Government, we have updated our terms and conditions to reflect the current pandemic.

We urge all of our wonderful new and existing users to please take heed of the Government advice and read the updated terms and conditions below to understand how COVID-19 affects the buying, selling and adopting of pets.

As a result of the government announcement on the 23rd March, buyers and sellers are no longer able to follow our typical terms and conditions as well as the checklist on the buying and selling of pets.

Mypetzilla takes the safety of animals and our users extremely seriously and we strongly urge everyone to stay at home and to adhere to government guidelines to stay at home, save the NHS and help save lives. Travel is only permitted for essentials such as buying food and or medicine and limiting everyone to leave their home once a day for exercise; whilst adhering to the social distance rule of keeping 2 meters apart from everyone not included in your household. As a result of this, Mypetzilla advises against any rehoming of pets until these restrictions have been lifted and the government has announced the next course of action.

As a responsible business, we will ensure that we carry on helping our users and the community to re-home pets and help pets find their new, loving homes, but we strongly advise against the viewing of pets until the restrictions are lifted.

To help our users we have listed below some helpful guidance:

Advice for buying and selling pets online

We invite new and existing users to carry on advertising on our website. Our services are free of charge to advertise pets for sale and we will carry on providing information around the current pandemic and other helpful guidance on pet-related health and wellbeing. We advise our breeders to NOT arrange viewings during this lockdown for pets for sale or to re-home pets. What we do recommend for breeders is to use our services and advertise their pets for sale and to engage with prospective buyers online or over the telephone until the government announces the next cause of action regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

With this, we have revised our current guidance for buyers and sellers below:

  • Deposits must NOT be requested during this time. This can lead to scammers taking advantage of this situation. We strongly advise against this, instead, please advertise as normal and be open to conversation and questions online until the restrictions are lifted
  • Animals must NOT be shipped at all during the restriction and the buyer must always view the pet before making a purchase, meaning all buyers will need to wait until the restrictions are lifted and the government has announced that we are allowed to leave our homes
  • Buyers must NOT re-home pets during this time

Advice for buyers during the COVID-19 pandemic

Mypetzilla strongly advises all buyers to stay at home and to NOT leave the house to view a pet for sale or re-home a new pet during the lock-down. You can carry on using the services online to research your pet of choice and for further advice on how to care for your pet in our pet advice section

During the lockdown, there is plenty you can be doing before the arrival of your pet dog or cat. Take this time to fully research the dog breed or cat breed most suitable and prepare your home; ready for the arrival of your beloved pet once the lock-down restrictions have been lifted. You can also use this time to work out a plan on the cost of maintaining the health and wellbeing of your pet and search online for suitable insurance quotes.

Please also note, that whilst this pandemic continues, the government's guidelines may also change which means some of our advice in the COVID-19 articles will not apply. We will continue to update our users as guidance changes.
