Questions and answers
Adopting a pet on Mypetzilla
How adoption adverts, rescues and messages work here.
Ask our team a questionWhat is the difference between rescue and private rehoming?
Rescue adverts are placed by a registered charity or independent rescue. Private rehoming adverts are placed by a current owner looking for the right new home for their pet.
Does Mypetzilla arrange the adoption?
No. The rescue or owner decides who adopts and how, and many rescues ask for a home check first. Mypetzilla lists the adverts and carries your messages. You can also find rescue centres near you.
Who receives the adoption fee?
The rescue or owner, paid directly. Mypetzilla never handles the money for a pet. Meet the pet before you pay any fee.
Does Mypetzilla check adverts before they appear?
Yes. Our team reviews every advert before it goes live, and adverts that break our rules are removed. A review is not a guarantee about the animal or the seller, so ask questions and see the pet in person.
How do I contact the person advertising?
Send a message from the advert. You need a free account to send one. Phone numbers and email addresses are never shown on adverts, and adverts give a town or postcode district, never a home address.
What does “Reserved” mean?
The advertiser is holding the pet for someone. The advert stays visible and you can still send a message in case plans change.
Why are some adverts labelled Featured?
Advertisers pay for a Featured place above the other results. Featured adverts are always labelled and go through the same review as every other advert.
How do I report an advert?
Use “Report this advert” on the advert page. You do not need an account, and every report goes to our team.
Can I be told when new pets are advertised?
Yes. Create a search alert from any results page and we will email you new matching adverts, daily or weekly. You need a free account.
