History & Origin

The Dorset Olde Tyme BullDog was created in the late 1980s by Steve Barnett who was known to be a Bulldog enthusiast.

Dorset Olde Tyme Bulldogge Temperament

The Dorset Olde Tyme Bulldog is a wonderful family pet. They're loyal, confident, courageous and eager to please their loved ones. Keen to be part of everyday life, the Dorset Olde Tyme Bulldog makes a great companion as they're very affectionate and long to be loved.

Dorset Olde Tyme Bulldogge Training

The Dorset Olde Tyme Bulldog is easy to train and should be done from a young age. They're intelligent, willing and eager to please. This breed does have a stubborn streak, which is why a firm but gentle hand is needed when training. They also tend to suffer with separation anxiety and therefore shouldn't be left on their own for too long.

Grooming

The Dorset Olde Tyme has a relatively easy coat to maintain and therefore requires little grooming apart from a weekly brush. They do, however, require special attention to their teeth and gums and therefore need their teeth brushing on a daily basis to prevent dental disease. Special attention must also be applied to their ears and nails.

Health

This dog breed is known to be a relatively healthy and robust dog and not usually affected by many hereditary diseases. Nonetheless, all new owners should check with their breeders on what testing has been done during the breeding process.

Dorset Olde Tyme Bulldogge Exercise Needs

Dorsets are not high-energy dog breeds and therefore only require 40 minutes of exercise a day. a short walk in the morning and another later in the evening is enough exercise for them. As with other dog breeds, the Dorset require plenty of mental stimulation to prevent them from becoming bored and destructive.

Children and other pets

The Dorset is great with children and other household pets. Early socialisation is important so they learn how to play nicely with small pets and children. Like with all dog breeds, playtime should always be supervised to reduce rough play.
