Before you adopt
- Think long termMany pets live for well over a decade: think about costs, moves, children and holidays.
- Meet the petMeet at least once, ideally twice, and see how they respond to you and your household.
- Ask about health and behaviourKnown conditions, medication, training and history: good rehomers will be open.
- Understand the processAsk how the rescue or owner rehomes: enquiry, meeting, home check where applicable, agreement.
- Allow time to settleMost pets take days to weeks to settle. Plan a calm first fortnight.
- Don't rushA good rehomer wants the right home, not the fastest one. Never send money before you have met the pet.
