The Greyhound and Lurcher Welfare and Rescue Centre is a small centre entirely run by volunteers. This non-profit centre relies heavily on donations from the public, fundraisers and publicity in order to meet all of their expenses.
The centre is also dependant on volunteers to carry out all roles. The jobs carried out by volunteers include rescue work, home checks and assisting with fundraising and raising awareness.
The Greyhound and Lurcher Welfare and Rescue is based in North Wiltshire, but they take in dogs from all over the country. Our Support Adoption For Pets team got in touch with the centre and they said -
"Most of our dogs are ex racers so need time to adjust to normal life. When they come in to us they are fully health checked, neutered and vaccinated, and assessed before they go on to their forever homes. Greyhounds and Lurchers are, by nature, gentle and affectionate. They need just three twenty minute walks a day, and a comfortable bed. They make the most wonderful pets."
The rescue centre prides itself on after care too, the Greyhound and Lurcher Welfare and Rescue are always there to help with any problems new owners may have.
